The Society for Breeders of African and Asiatic Small Finches
Page last updated: 18 February 2025
Members of the Waxbill Finch Society may use this facility to advertise their surplus birds or to post wanted or exchange ads.
Please email us at: birds@waxbillfinchsociety.org.uk with your requested information, your contact details, and your WFS membership number.
When selling birds, we also ask that you include a price to prevent any misunderstanding with potential buyers.
Running time of the ad will be at the webmaster’s discretion (usually 6 to 8 weeks) or until the advertiser requests removal, whichever comes first. You may request alteration of your ad or an extension of the expiry date at any time. If you do not have email, please phone Darren Smith on 01634 290 544. Many thanks.
Requirement and forms |
---|
If you have any surplus birds but don’t have a breeders table at the Stafford/ Warwickshire/ Cambridge/ Newark sales, you can bring them along and place them on the WFS table (for a small fee) and let us sell them for you. Where we offer members this opportunity, you are required to complete the WFS member sales declaration form below.
We also remind all members that keepers are now obliged to be registered with APHA (Animal & Plant Health Agency) where they are selling their birds.
The paperwork below has been updated to include this requirement. WFS member sales declaration form in Word or pdf |

Please note that in the interests of avoiding unwanted visitors to your bird room, some would suggest that you should not use a landline telephone number as your response mechanism. A mobile phone number or email address would be preferable. Note the advice given by Cage and Aviary Birds: "Anyone advertising birds for sale is advised not to give details of their whereabouts to unfamiliar callers ringing on mobile phones. We recommend that you ask for a landline number and call them back. If you are still suspicious, arrange to meet at a neutral location."
It is a condition of placing all advertisements that the advertiser accepts all and any risks. The Waxbill Finch Society can take no responsibility for any consequences resulting from the placing of any advertisement.
